Villa's under-the-radar winger target
Eleven goals, eight assists, 34 Championship appearances, a place in the Team of the Season — and now, according to Foot Mercato, a Premier League club circling. Aston Villa have reportedly identified Millwall winger Femi Azeez as a target for their attacking line this summer, and if you haven't been watching the Championship closely, this is your introduction.
Player
Femi Azeez — winger, 24 years old, Millwall.
Current club
Millwall, Championship. Azeez was one of the division's most productive wide players this season: 11 goals and 8 assists in 34 appearances, a return that earned him a spot in the Championship Team of the Season. That kind of output from a wide player in the second tier doesn't go unnoticed for long.
Editor's note — stats pending verification: The figures above (11G / 8A / 34 apps / Team of the Season) are sourced from Foot Mercato's report. We are seeking confirmation via an official or Tier-3 source (EFL, WhoScored, BBC Sport) before this article is cleared for publish. The transfer interest claim also rests on a single outlet — a second corroborating source is required under our publishing standards.
Linked club
Aston Villa. Unai Emery's side finished the Premier League season with European ambitions still very much intact, and reinforcing the attacking line over the summer is a clear priority. A winger with Azeez's numbers — direct, productive, proven across a full season — fits the profile of the low-cost, high-upside additions Villa have made a habit of targeting.

Reliability
This is early-interest territory — one source, no detail on fee, no indication of whether talks have started or whether Millwall are willing to move their standout performer on. Treat it as a name on a list rather than a deal in motion.
What's being claimed
According to Foot Mercato, Villa have flagged Azeez as a name of interest for their attacking department. That's the full extent of it — no reported bid, no agent meetings, no asking price in the story.
What would make sense
Quite a lot, actually. Villa have shown a consistent appetite for players who've dominated a level below and can step up — and Azeez's Championship season is the sort of CV that tends to attract Premier League scouts in numbers. At 24, he's at the age where the jump feels natural rather than premature. A winger who can contribute double figures in goals and assists doesn't need much of a sell.
Millwall, for their part, will know what they have. Keeping a player of Azeez's calibre in the Championship gets harder every summer — especially when clubs like Villa come knocking.
What still needs to happen
Pretty much everything. A formal approach, a fee agreed, Millwall's willingness to sell, and Azeez's own decision on where he wants to go. The story is at the very beginning of the runway — if it's a runway at all. Worth watching, not worth clearing the diary for.
