Kane's 100 goals in 98 games, explained
Harry Kane's 100th Bundesliga goal came in his 98th Bayern Munich appearance, the fastest anyone has ever reached the mark in the league's history, and it landed while Michael Olise was scoring a hat-trick at the other end of a 7-0 demolition of Union Berlin.
The number that matters
Harry Kane's 100th Bundesliga goal arrived in his 98th appearance for Bayern Munich, according to ESPN FC, making him the fastest player to reach the milestone in the league's history. Sky Sports called it plainly: history. It's the kind of stat that sounds almost unreal for a striker who only moved to Germany in the summer of 2023, and it lands at a point in his career where the goals have stopped feeling like a story and started feeling like a routine.
Our own records back up how relentless that run has been. Kane scored 44 in 44 appearances in 2023/24, 38 in 46 the following season, and has already racked up 57 in 49 across the seasons we hold on record, the tally climbing again with this latest strike. Three full seasons in, the goals still haven't slowed down.
Olise joins the party
The context around the record was almost as loud as the record itself. BBC Sport reported that Bayern put seven past Union Berlin, with Michael Olise scoring a hat-trick of his own on the same afternoon. A 7-0 win with a hat-trick and a historic milestone in the same 90 minutes is the kind of scoreline that reads like a typo until you check it twice.
Bayern sit second in the Bundesliga table after four games, with three wins, a draw and no defeats, ten points and a goal difference of plus 12. Results like the Union Berlin thrashing are exactly why that goal difference looks the way it does.
Where the record actually sits
Kane's mark is a Bundesliga record, not a continental one. GiveMeSport's own list of the fastest players to 100 goals across Europe's top five leagues since 2000 puts his 98-game tally behind at least one player elsewhere on the continent, so the wider European crown belongs to someone else. What ESPN FC and Sky Sports both confirm is narrower but no less real: no one has reached 100 Bundesliga goals faster than Harry Kane, and Bayern's forward line looks nowhere near done adding to his total.
Will Kane hit 150 Bundesliga goals before anyone else reaches 100?
