The move

Lucumi has been one of Serie A's more reliable defenders over the past couple of seasons, bringing composure and aerial presence to a Bologna side that punched well above its weight. At 26, he fits the profile Juventus have been chasing: a defender with top-flight Italian experience who can step in without a settling-in period.

Football Italia reported the arrival and footage of Lucumi at the medical centre in Turin on Saturday. The €20m fee has been cited throughout the saga but neither club has officially confirmed the figure yet. That confirmation, along with the full announcement, is expected once the medical clears.

What Lucumi brings to Juve

Juventus's backline has needed reinforcement for a while. Lucumi is left-footed, comfortable playing out from the back, and has shown he can handle the physical demands of a title-race calendar. For a club trying to close the gap on Inter and Napoli, adding a centre-back who already knows Serie A is a sensible piece of business rather than a gamble.

Barring a late hitch in the medical, Lucumi will be a Juventus player before the week is out.
