What happened with Driouech

The Driouech deal had been moving forward before it fell apart at the medical stage, GiveMeSport reports. A failed medical is one of the more brutal ways to lose a transfer, because the work is done, the announcement is drafted in someone's head, and then it isn't. Rangers are left with a gap in attack and a shrinking window to fill it.

Two targets, one panic

Rangers have moved quickly on two fronts. GiveMeSport reports the club have tabled a bid for Kevin Kelsy. That is the furthest-advanced strand in this story, though it comes from GiveMeSport alone with no corroboration from a second outlet. The club have also made direct contact over a deal for Min-Su Kim, per the same source. Pursuing both simultaneously is either smart contingency planning or a sign that nobody is quite sure which one will land. Possibly both.

Both situations are live and could still go either way. Treat the Kelsy bid and the Kim contact as real leads rather than done deals.

The Tavernier subplot

As if the window wasn't complicated enough, former Rangers player Andy Halliday has publicly urged the club to re-sign ex-captain James Tavernier. Halliday's call, reported by GiveMeSport, is punditry rather than any confirmed club interest. There is no suggestion Rangers have made an approach. Whether the fanbase agrees with Halliday is a separate and probably louder conversation.

The clock

Rangers need attacking reinforcement. The Driouech collapse has cost them time they did not have to spare. Kelsy and Kim are the answers on the table right now, and at least one of them needs to come through before the window shuts.
