Toppmöller wins a trophy on his Lens debut

PSG, for their part, will not enjoy losing a domestic showpiece. Luis Enrique's side remain the overwhelming favourites for the title, and one defeat in August changes nothing structurally. But Lens open their Ligue 1 campaign having already beaten the team they will be chasing all season.

Toppmöller arrived with a strong reputation from his work in Germany, and Lens's decision to appoint him was always about ambition rather than consolidation. One game in, that ambition has a trophy to point at.
